In October, Club Members set sail on the Rhine River for the 2016 ClubPartner Perk Grand Adventure and the first-ever Member river cruise. The 10-day adventure began with three nights in Amsterdam before passengers boarded the Scenic Pearl and cruised to the German cities of Cologne (featured above), Koblenz, Rüdesheim and Mannheim. A stop in Strasbourg, France, followed, and the group returned home from Switzerland.

Owners at Kings’ Land by Hilton Grand Vacations Club on Hawaii’s Big Island, Pete and Pat Gibbons both have October birthdays, and this year they decided to observe them in a big way. Apart from their birthday festivities, Pete says they had a wonderful time on the trip and enjoyed seeing parts of Europe they’d never visited before. The couple liked exploring Amsterdam and spending time in the Pearl’s lounge with other Club Members. “Having everyone from the Club made conversation with new friends very easy,” he says.

Bill and Patti Turner were also on board the Pearl. Club Members since 2015, this was their first ClubPartner Perk Grand Adventure. “We are glad we took it,” says Patti, whose home resort is Ocean 22 by Hilton Grand Vacations Club in Myrtle Beach.

Patti says picking daily on-shore trips was a perk of the journey. “We took them all,” she says. “It kept us busy, we learned [a lot], and each event was well suited for our trip.” Her favorite stop was the town of Rüdesheim, where she visited the Siegfried Mechanical Music Cabinet Museum, which holds a vast collection of automated musical instruments. “It was fabulous,” she says.
Each day, the cruise stopped in a city where Club Members had the opportunity to explore fantastic museums, medieval castles like Schloss Burg, and World Heritage Sites. Members also sampled some of the region’s best wines, attended classical concerts and did so much more. Near the end of their trip, Members could visit Germany’s enchanting Black Forest, the setting for “Hansel and Gretel” and other fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm.
