We know what you’re thinking. Didn’t we just celebrate the holidays? Yes, but now—while the season’s festivities are fresh in mind—is the best time to start planning an amazing holiday getaway in 2017.
That’s because the best holidays are well-planned holidays. Members can begin making Home Week Reservations 365 days from the desired check-in dates and Club Reservations as early as 276 days (at most Club resorts) in advance of the desired check-out dates, so why wait? Get into your holiday vacation spirit early this year with a preview of these five exciting winter holiday destinations.
Nicknamed the City of Lights, Las Vegas shines just as bright, if not brighter, during the holiday season. Head to the Magical Forest at Opportunity Village, where you will wander right into a winter wonderland. Here, you can discover Rudolph’s Raceway or visit Santa in his workshop from late November through the end of the year. At Ethel M Chocolates Holiday Cactus Garden, get into the spirit as you stroll through the gardens glowing with thousands of lights, listen to carolers and satisfy your sweet tooth. On New Year’s Eve, the Las Vegas Strip shuts down to traffic and opens up for a huge celebration (featured above). Ring in 2018 with an Elton John performance, choreographed fireworks and more.
Where to Stay? Hilton Grand Vacations Club on the Boulevard is conveniently located on the northern end of the Strip.
Venture to Carlsbad, where the weather is typically warm but you can still see Santa and real snow. Enjoy live entertainment, take photos with a Lego brick Santa and his reindeer and experience nightly snowfall surrounded by festive, twinkling lights during Holidays at Legoland. Get a taste of the town on a 3½-hour Carlsbad Food Tour, where you’ll be introduced to not only some of the city’s best food stops but also local culture while you sample specialty foods and sip fine wines. In December, tours are available every day except Wednesdays.
Where to Stay? Grand Pacific Palisades Resort, situated atop a lushly landscaped ridge with a distant view of the Pacific Ocean and the seasonal Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch.
Perfect for those looking for a tropical retreat, Miami has plenty of opportunities for travelers to finish their holiday shopping, from the Holiday Bazaar at Miami Theater Center to South Beach or Dolphin Mall. Done shopping? Walk on the beach or bring the family to Santa’s Enchanted Forest. The self-proclaimed world’s largest holiday theme park and free carnival offers more than 100 rides, shows and games. Tune in to the songs of the season by catching a performance from the New World Symphony.
Where to Stay? Hilton Grand Vacations Club at McAlpin – Ocean Plaza, in the heart of South Beach, Miami.
Watch with wonder as the magic of the season floats, marches and rolls down the Avenue of the Americas and into Herald Square during Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, a tradition since 1924. In December, ice-skate with the family in front of the famous Rockefeller Christmas Tree, visit one of the world’s largest Hanukkah menorahs at Grand Army Plaza, or shop at one of the many holiday markets such as the Winter Village at Bryant Park and Columbus Circle Holiday Market, both less than 20 minutes on foot from either West 57th Street by Hilton Club or The Hilton Club–New York. On New Year’s Eve, count down in person as the ball drops during the Times Square New Year’s Eve celebration.
Where to Stay? West 57th Street by Hilton Club, in Midtown Manhattan and walking distance from top sights like Central Park and Lincoln Center.
Take a break from winter weather and head to the heart of Honolulu’s shopping, dining and entertainment district where you’ll have easy access to the city’s seasonal sights and celebrations. In early December, Honolulu City Lights kicks off its month-long holiday celebration downtown. Catch the Electric Light Parade, an evening event full of festive, well-lit vehicles, marching bands and mascots, shop at Mele Kalikimaka Marketplace and more.
Where to Stay? Hokulani Waikiki by Hilton Grand Vacations Club, on the northern part of the Waikiki Beach Walk entertainment district in Honolulu on Oahu, Hawaii. The Club Reservation window for Hokulani Waikiki opens 186 days in advance of the check-out date.
