See and Taste the Appeal of Puerto Vallarta

Bound by Banderas Bay and the Sierra Madre Mountains, Puerto Vallarta welcomes travelers to the west coast of Mexico.

Explore the lively Los Muertos Beach for sunbathing, shopping and dining. From here, you’ll have easy access to Los Muertos Pier in Zona Romántica. After a $2.4 million renovation, the waterfront pier reopened in 2013 and features a mile-long boardwalk lined with shops and public artwork, including a 9-foot seahorse.

Fun fact: Puerto Vallarta was the last port of call in the television show Love Boat.

For a quieter beach scene, head to the northside and spend a day at Playa Camarones. The first urban beach in Mexico to receive the government’s Clean Beach certification, this spot is ideal for catching sunsets, surfing or whale watching (in winter).

Travelers can take a break from the beach and visit the grounds, all 20 acres, of Vallarta Botanical Gardens. In addition to smelling the roses, you can view an impressive orchid conservatory, part of Vallarta’s effort to create a National Collection of Mexican Orchids.

After you’ve worked up an appetite, indulge your inner foodie and taste the town with Vallarta Food Tours. Book from a variety of culinary walking tours, including Mex-ology, with a focus on tequila, tacos and cocktails.
