While some vacationgoers prefer to relax when traveling, a recent study by market researcher GfK suggests that a good chunk of people — 35 percent of vacationers across 17 countries — would rather be active in their travels, seeing and doing lots of things.
Sound like you? If so, consider the active itinerary options below for your next trip! If spending your time unwinding is a top priority instead, check out the story we ran in the July edition of Club Traveler featuring ideas for planning a relaxing vacation.
Lucky for Club Travelers, many Hilton Grand Vacations Club properties are in locations that feature a variety of landscapes, ideal for exploring with a leisurely or challenging hike.
For example, if you’re staying at Valdoro Mountain Lodge in Breckenridge, Colorado, hike the Blue Lakes trail or the nearby McCullough Gulch trail, where you’ll see waterfalls that lead to an alpine lake.
If you really love long, scenic hikes, why not make that the theme of your next trip? Consider planning a vacation through Hilton Grand Vacations ClubPartner Perk Country Walkers. A leader in worldwide active travel, Country Walkers offers small-group hiking and walking tours in beautiful destinations across 26 countries.
Las Palmeras, a Hilton Grand Vacations Club, just got a new water slide. Left, a view from the slide. Right, a view from the hotel of the pool and slide.
The pool isn’t just for vacationgoers who prefer to relax. For those who like to stay lively, there are plenty of opportunities to make a splash. Head to a water park, or down a slide, like the new one at Las Palmeras, a Hilton Grand Vacations Club — the newest of four properties in Orlando, Florida. Las Palmeras recently completed several other renovation projects, including an expanded pool deck and an updated splash pad. In case you’re curious, additional projects going on at the property include the first phase of room enhancements, updated landscaping and other exterior modifications.

Seeking an exhilarating experience this winter? Head to the mountains and glide down the slopes in Breckenridge, Colorado at Breckenridge Ski Resort and in Park City, Utah at Park City Mountain Resort, which open November 10 and November 17, respectively. Feel the crunch of powder beneath your skis and inhale the fresh pine scent from surrounding trees, then soak in the striking contrast of the blue sky, white mountain and brightly clothed skiers and snowboarders speckled across the mountain trails.
Hilton Grand Vacations Club has teamed up with Smart Destinations to offer Club Members exclusive savings on Go Cards, digital passes that grant admission to museums, tours and attractions in the city you’re planning to visit for one discounted price.
For example, a New York Explorer Pass: Choice Pass includes admission to your choice of 61 of the best New York attractions, including the Statue of Liberty. You’ll receive a ferry ticket to Liberty Island, where you’ll have the opportunity to marvel at Lady Liberty herself, and to Ellis Island, where millions of immigrants made their first stop in America. Go Cards are available for several cities, including New York, Orlando and San Diego.
Prefer sightseeing on wheels? Many cities near Hilton Grand Vacations properties have bike-share programs, including New York’s Citi Bike, Washington, D.C.’s Capital Bikeshare, Denver’s B-Cycle and Honolulu’s Bikeshare Hawaii. Whether you’re staying at any of the seven Hilton Grand Vacation properties in Honolulu; West 57th Street by Hilton Club, The Hilton Club – New York, or The Residences by Hilton Club in New York, The District by Hilton Club in Washington, D.C.; or at Valdoro Mountain Lodge and looking to spend some time in nearby Denver, rent a bike for a day or just a couple of hours. With bike-share racks near popular attractions in each of these cities, it’s easy to stay active en route to wherever you want to go on two wheels.
And, if you’ve dreamed of exploring America on a Harley-Davidson, grab your leather jacket, strap on your helmet and take off on a motorcycle from ClubPartner Perk EagleRider, which offers a variety of power sport vehicles, from Harley-Davidson bikes to four-wheel ATVs. You can tailor your own route or take one of EagleRider’s guided motorcycle tours, like the Route 66 Motorcycle Tour of America’s most famous highway.
