5 Cities to Plan a Romantic Getaway

February 14 is just around the corner, but don’t worry if you and your sweetie don’t have a vacation on the books for this romance-themed month. There are plenty of destinations where you can feel the love, even if it’s not Valentine’s Day.

There’s no reason to wait for February to come around again when you can start planning a romantic escape today. The following five cities offer amorous opportunities year-round!

Stroll: Walk along the banks of the River Seine, in the pedestrian-friendly historic heart of Paris. Lovebirds can jaunt from Musée d’Orsay up to the Port de Solférino and the Eiffel Tower, stopping at any of the cafes, floating gardens and outdoor seating areas along the way.

Dine: For an impeccable view, make dinner reservations at L’Oiseau Blanc Restaurant. Boasting unbeatable views of some of Paris’ most iconic landmarks including the Eiffel Tower, this aviation-themed eatery delivers classic and seasonally inspired French cuisine.

Plan a Royal Experience: From its ornate Hall of Mirrors to nearly 2,000 acres of gardens, Château de Versailles is an impressive destination for a romantic, and royal, escape just outside of Paris. While you’re visiting the castle, surprise your partner by renting a boat and rowing him or her off on a sweet excursion down the Grand Canal.

Where to Stay: Hilton Paris Opera hotel, a newly refurbished hotel in the city’s bustling Opéra quarter and near many top attractions like the Opéra Garnier and the Champs-Élysées.

Stroll: Take your loved one around the globe at Epcot. Walk hand in hand as you make your way through Europe, sipping on wine in Italy and buying your sweetie something that’s equally so at Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie.

Float: Rent a swan boat and paddle around Lake Eola. Keep paddling the entire time, or simply steer your swan to a serene spot where you can steal a few kisses and relax on the water.

Watch Sparks Fly: Fall in love under the nightly fireworks at Magic Kingdom. Catch the show in front of Cinderella’s castle, or break away from the crowd and sit on one of many benches throughout the park where you can still see the spectacle.

Where to Stay: Parc Soleil by Hilton Grand Vacations Club, located close to many of Orlando’s popular theme parks, golf courses and dining and shopping options.

New York

Stroll: Whether it’s winter or summer, an evening walk across the Brooklyn Bridge with your sweetheart is enchanting. This historic suspension bridge is beautiful in its own right and serves up fantastic views of Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Adventure: Couples looking for something a bit different can explore Governors Island during late spring, summer and fall. The 172-acre island in New York Harbor is just a short ferry ride from the city and boasts phenomenal views of Manhattan. Explore it by foot or bike, or relax next to each other in one of the island’s 50 inviting red hammocks.

Experience Something Unique: Artsy pairs should venture to the Dream House in SoHo, home to light and sound environment art, where couples can lie or sit next to each other in this soothing and super eclectic environment. After this unique experience, art fans may also enjoy meandering around the modern and contemporary pieces in the iconic Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Guggenheim Museum, where Hilton Members receive a 15 percent discount. Later, relish in a leisurely bite with a view at the Wayfarer, a cozy midtown Manhattan hideaway boasting floor-to-ceiling windows and a bi-level dining room overlooking the hustle and bustle of the city below. Feast your eyes and taste buds on classic, freshly prepared dishes ranging from sushi and fine tavern fare to grilled poultry and prime cuts of steak.

Where to Stay: West 57th Street by Hilton Club, located in the heart of midtown and close to some of the city’s top attractions like Lincoln Center and Central Park.

Stroll: It’s hard to go wrong with a walk atop the pristine white sands of Waikiki, but for an even more impressive sight, couples up for the challenge can hike to the top of Diamond Head. The 300,000-year-old volcanic formation offers a fantastic vantage point to soak in views of Honolulu, the Pacific Ocean and the Waikiki shoreline from Koko Head to Wai’anae.

Horseback Ride: Drive to the North Shore before sunset and reveal to your loved one that you’ve booked a horseback riding excursion on the beach. No riding experience is required, so simply saddle up and enjoy golden hour with your partner.

Take to the Water: Enjoy the rooftop pool at Hokulani Waikiki by Hilton Grand Vacations Club in Honolulu, where you can put your feet in the water while sipping on a cocktail from the Nā Lani pool bar before jumping in. Soak in breathtaking views of the Koolau mountain range, Diamond Head, the happening Kalakaua Avenue and, of course, the Pacific Ocean.

Club Members can also enjoy the water together at any of the six pools at Hilton Hawaiian Village, including a 10,000-square-foot super pool, and a saltwater lagoon that offers swimming, snorkeling and watercraft equipment rentals. At the Kalia Tower Pool, couples will discover an inviting infinity pool, free from floats and pool toys, featuring mosaic-tiled maile lei, with ilima and pikake flowers intertwined into its design. Please note: access to the pools at The Ali’i and Grand Islander are exclusive to guests staying in those towers.

Where to Stay: Hokulani Waikiki by Hilton Grand Vacations Club, located in the center of Waikiki Beach Walk and a few minutes’ stroll along Waikiki Bay to the beach.

Playa del Carmen

Stroll: Walk through history by taking an excursion to one or more nearby Mayan sites. Meander through the impressive ruins at Chichen Itza—one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then climb the 120 stone steps of the pyramid at the Coba ruins, or take in the view from the only walled city in the Mayan Empire while walking around the clifftop site of Tulum.

Relax: Few things look as fluffy and relaxing as the clouds, making it an appropriate name for the tranquil rooftop and poolside eatery Clouds at Lat20 by Live Aqua, where Members can stay thanks to Hilton Grand Vacations’ affiliate partnership with Fiesta Americana. For those who prefer a wellness-inspired approach, book aromatherapy treatments or deep tissue couples massages at the Feel Sense Spa.

Dine in Style: Surrounded by tropical scenery, enjoy a fusion of flavors, textures and aromas served up in any of the signature dishes created by Lat20’s house chef. If you’re craving a night outside of the property, treat yourselves to a gourmet meal, impressive views and serene sounds all around—ocean waves, romantic music in the background and, of course, each other’s company—while dining by tiki light and moonlight at Pavo Real by the Sea.

Where to Stay: Lat20 by Live Aqua, an adults-only, all-inclusive resort.
