The weather in Argentina's Lake District can vary dramatically from one day to the next. The highest elevation on this trip is 2,300 ft. (701 m). Come prepared for all types of weather. Hikes through Patagonia's terrain are remote and often do not intersect with roads. Vehicles will get travelers to and from the trailheads, but the nature of these trails is such that travelers will not see vehicles along the route. Ample trail support in the form of water, snacks, and encouragement is provided by your Backroads leaders and local guides. Be aware that biking routes include sections of dirt roads with loose rocks and sand, as well as some more trafficked stretches. The Lake District's rugged topography also limits the number of available roads. This itinerary features a mix of the region's most scenic paved and dirt road-biking routes; at times, travelers may encounter trafficked areas, as well as a few sections of dirt roads with loose rocks and sand. Travelers are welcome to take the shuttle to avoid the busier or rougher sections of a route. Trips with a small number of guests may be supported by one Backroads Trip Leader and a team of knowledgeable local guides. There will always be at least two people hiking on the trail with you.

Day 1: Please note that depending on the number of people who wish to horseback ride, the ranch may require part of the group to horseback ride in the morning, then hike in the afternoon. Also note that this activity has some limitations, since we ride native criollo horses which are smaller than the ones typically used in the northern hemisphere; riders must be no more than 190 centimeters (6 feet 2.8 inches) tall and weigh no more than 95 kilograms (209 pounds).

Day 2: Make sure to bring sturdy hiking sandals or water shoes for rafting trip. Class II to III rapids are ideal for both beginners and experienced rafters. Please note that due to holiday closures, the art gallery visit may be shifted to another day.

Day 3: Please note that this evening's dancing and dinner may be moved to Day 4 depending on the timing of the day's activities.

Day 4: Please note spa treatments are not included in the trip price. Advance reservations are recommended.

Day 5: Some trails on the island close on windy days — if so, routes will be modified. If extreme wind prohibits navigation of boats on the lake, an alternative location will be provided to hike.

Alcoholic beverages are only available to travelers who are 18 years or older. Hotels may differ from those listed by the tour provider, but the accommodations selected are of equivalent standard. Your hotels will be available in your final documents approximately 2-3 weeks prior to departure.
