When you’re looking for something quick, flavorful and fun to satisfy your cravings, local food trucks are a great choice on vacation. These eccentric eateries can offer the most distinctive cuisine in the area and are frequently located in the center of all the action, including four of our Club Members’ favorite vacation destinations: Hawaii, Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach and Orlando.
Get a taste of authentic Colombian cuisine all the way out in Honolulu at Mami’s Empanadas. Located minutes from beautiful Waikiki beach on the corner of Cartwright Road and Kapahulu Avenue, this food truck offers—you guessed it—a wide variety of empanadas including chicken, beef and vegetarian, along with Colombian-style arepas—fried corn cakes topped with cheese and meats—and sandwiches. What’s better than hitting the beach and relaxing in the sun with an empanada in hand?
Where to Stay: Just a short walk from the beach is Hokulani Waikiki by Hilton Grand Vacations Club, in the heart of the Waikiki Beach Walk entertainment district. The resort features luxurious one-bedroom suites, a fitness center and the Na Lani Sky Lounge—an exclusive rooftop deck with pool lounge, bar, private cabanas and views of Waikiki.
Cool down from the desert heat and busy streets with a treat from The Cookie Bar on the Las Vegas Strip. The Cookie Bar is one of the smallest food trucks in Las Vegas, but it packs a refreshing punch with soft serve ice cream cones, ice cream sandwiches and root beer floats, not to mention an assortment of brownies, Rice Krispie treats and specialty cookies. Adults can even keep the party going with alcohol-infused items like the Tipsy Velvet, red velvet white chocolate cookies infused with cake vodka, and the Mug Shot, a cookie infused with root beer schnapps and topped with marshmallow vodka buttercream.
Where to Stay: Hilton Grand Vacations Club at Trump International Hotel Las Vegas is conveniently located right on the Strip and offers cozy studios, as well as one- and two-bedroom suites with fully equipped kitchens and whirlpool tubs. The 64-story resort is home to an outdoor pool and hot tubs, private cabanas, a Michelin-starred restaurant, a business center and a luxurious spa.
Just because you’re not in New York City or Chicago doesn’t mean you can’t find great pizza, thanks to Benito’s Rolling Oven. This food truck comes with a traditional wood-fire oven, which brings authenticity to each of its specialty pies. Try the classic Margherita pie with sliced tomato, fresh basil and mozzarella or their signature Benito’s Lovers with pepperoni, sausage, onions, green peppers and mushrooms. You can find the truck all over the Grand Strand.
Where to Stay: Ocean 22 by Hilton Grand Vacations Club puts guests right on the sands of Myrtle Beach, steps away from award-winning golf courses, the signature boardwalk, and popular shopping, dining and nightlife. The resort features one-, two- and three-bedroom suites with balconies overlooking the ocean, as well as a fitness center, lobby lounge, youth activity center, outdoor pool and hot tub. It also offers admission to the Myrtle Beach Grand Prix and seasonal admission to Myrtle Waves Water Park.
Indulge in a variety of inventive and positively cheesy dishes at the brand-new Mac & Cheese Truck in Disney Springs, an outdoor complex filled with shopping, dining and entertainment venues. Enjoy a concert at the Marketplace Stage or bowling at Splitsville Luxury Lanes and then head to the west side of Disney Springs, where the truck, which debuted in March 2019, will be parked. The menu includes items like Six-Cheese Crunchy Macaroni & Cheese topped with crunchy cheese puffs and the Bacon Cheeseburger Macaroni & Cheese topped with cheddar and American cheese.
Where to Stay: After a day of fun and a meal of cheesy goodness, stay in the nearby Parc Soleil by Hilton Grand Vacations Club. The 52-acre resort offers large outdoor pools, a fitness center, playground, and tennis and basketball courts. It’s also near the major theme parks, golf courses, restaurants and shops.
Club Members looking to satisfy their cravings should book a stay at an HGV property in one of these four cities during the Open Season Reservation Window, which occurs 30 days prior to check-out through one day prior to check-in.
